What to do in Valencia?

  1. Enjoying a dish of paella is bound to be on your list, but did you know that this well-known local speciality tastes even better with a sea view? With panoramic views of the Mediterranean, you’ll love the restaurants on Las Arenas beach. Wherever you end up, you’re sure to be impressed!

  2. The City of Arts and Sciences is an unmissable attraction for any first-time visitors to Valencia. It consists of 6 futuristic buildings, designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela, and boasts some of the most impressive architecture in Spain.

  3. The old river bed of the Turia has been converted into a leafy garden which is 9 km long, connecting the Parc de Capçalera with the City of Arts and Sciences. Explore the garden by bike or simply stroll along the riverbanks which are home to many museums, monuments and bridges.

  4. Take a boat trip at sunset on the Albufera. This beautifully blue freshwater lagoon offers the perfect backdrop for stunning photos.
  5. El Miguelete” is the city’s most iconic tower and is well worth a visit. Climb the 207 steps of the spiral staircase to reach the top of this bell tower, where you’ll have an impressive 360° view of the city. You won’t regret it!

  6. The Fallas festival in March is probably one of the most unusual and spectacular sights you’ll ever see – it has to be seen to be believed. Enormous and exuberant papier mâché statues fill the city for an entire week as part of satirical and humorous parades, while fireworks are let off in front of the town hall every day. At the end of the festivities, the statues are burnt by their creators; they then start all over again in preparation for the following year!

  7. Valencia was profoundly changed by the economic, social and cultural revolutions of the golden age of the silk trade. Follow the city’s own Silk Road by visiting the Velluters district, the Silk Museum, the Silk Exchange (Lonja de la Seda, a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and Valencia’s typical dress shops.

  8. There’s no better place to try the popular drink horchata. This drink, which is made from chufa (nutsedge), can be served with breakfast or enjoyed on its own. Treat yourself to a sweet treat too: ask your waiter for fartons, a local pastry – great for dipping in your drink!
