Carry-on baggage 

Even if you’re travelling with carry-on baggage only, you still need to check in for your flight. If you’ve checked in online, you can directly proceed to your departure gate.

Please note: When flying out of Africa, you must pass by the check-in desk at the airport to pick up your final boarding pass.

On flights within Europe, you can check-in your hand baggage for free and enjoy the following benefits:

• No liquid restrictions 
• Less weight to carry around at the airport 
• Save time at security control 
• A quicker boarding process 
• No need to find a spot for your baggage on board 

You may bring max. 1 litre of liquids and gels with you: 

• In bottles of max. 100ml each. The amount printed on the bottle is what counts (e.g. a bottle of 200ml that is only half full is not allowed) 
• In a transparent, re-sealable plastic bag (e.g. a Ziploc bag) 
• Duty-Free shopping (after security checkpoints) is exempt from this restriction, as long as the products stay in their specially sealed Tax-Free shopping bag.

In general, any type of item that can be used as a weapon or that may endanger the safety of other passengers is not allowed in your hand baggage.

• Inflight necessities (diapers, etc.) and infant food for consumption on board. 
• ​Baby equipment such as strollers, car seats and carrying baskets
• One pair of crutches, arm or leg splints, other kinds of prostheses 
• ​Wheelchairs, rollators and other similar mobility aids

There may be limited storage space in the cabin (e.g. small aircraft, full flight, etc.). In this case, we will stow your carry-on baggage in the hold for free. Upon arrival, you can pick it up on the baggage belt. 

Children (aged 2-11) have the same hand baggage allowance as adults, depending on the travel class. Infants (aged 0-23 months) not occupying a seat are not entitled to free hand baggage allowance. However, on top your own carry-on baggage, you may bring your infant’s food for consumption on board. 

For connecting flights or flights with a partner airline, the rules of the operating airline apply. It means that the dimensions and weight of carry-on baggage can vary depending on the flight you’re taking. Therefore, we advise you to check the different rules before your flight(s) to avoid having to pay a fee if your carry-on baggage does not comply with the regulations of the operating airline.
