Travelling by plane is an out-of-the-ordinary situation. It might be convenient to travel with a friend or family member, but we also offer the possibility to book a medical travel companion to assist you.
Can I travel alone?
Even if you are fully capable of being independent in your daily life, you might want to travel with a friend or family member who can assist you at the airport and on board.
If you’re thinking about flying on your own, remember that you need to be able to get out of the plane independently in the event of an emergency evacuation.
You’re obligated to travel with a companion if:
you are both blind and deaf
you would need help during an emergency evacuation
you cannot communicate with flight attendants about safety instructions
you are unable to understand or follow the safety demonstration
Brussels Airlines reserves the right to deny you access to board if our staff believes you won’t be able to travel alone.
Can I book medical assistance?
If you need medical assistance while travelling, you can book a medical travel companion to assist you. Thanks to a collaboration with Medical Travel Companions, a nurse, paramedic or doctor can accompany you on your way to the airport, assist you at your destination or be with you for the entire journey.
The type of support can be adapted to your needs and different packages are available and tailored to your requirements.
