Green Fares
Green Fares make it easier to fly more sustainably and are available to Lufthansa Group customers via the online booking systems, including brusselsairlines.com.
Our new Green Fares also earn you extra Points and let you enjoy flexible rebooking options, plus additional benefits of our Economy or Business Saver fares.
Green Fares in Europe - a more sustainable way to fly
Choosing an Economy Green or Business Green fare, reduces your individual flight-related CO2 emissions of that flight by 20% through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The remaining 80% of the individual flight-related CO2 emissions are offset through a contribution to climate protection projects.
Green Fares also include additional status miles, flexible conditions and benefits when you book an Economy Classic or
Business Saver fare.
Green Fares on selected intercontinental flights
We are now also extending our Green Fares on selected intercontinental routes of Lufthansa Group, enabling you to travel more sustainably.
Choosing a Green Fare on intercontinental routes, be it Economy Green, Business Green, Premium Eco Green or First Green, reduces your individual flight-related C02 emissions of that flight by 10% through the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). The remaining 90% of the individual flight-related C02 emissions are offset through a contribution to climate protection projects.
Available on the following routes: Frankfurt – Bangalore (FRA–BLR), Munich – Incheon (MUC–ICN), Brussels – Kinshasa (BRU–FIH), Zurich – Los Angeles (ZRH–LAX), Frankfurt – Miami (FRA–MIA), Singapore – London (SIN–LON), São Paulo – Zurich (GRU–ZRH), Nairobi – Frankfurt (NBO–FRA), Bangkok – Vienna (BKK–VIE), Hong Kong – London (HKG–LON), Paris – Bangkok (PAR–BKK).
CO2-neutral by 2050: an ambitious goal for the Lufthansa Group, but one that’s worth every effort to achieve.
Our aim is to reduce the emissions of our flights as much as possible. We shall halve our net carbon emissions by 2030 compared to 2019. The carbon reduction in this interim target has been validated by the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) and is in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.
In our efforts to reduce our flight-related emissions, we are investing in a modern and more sustainable fleet, implementing new technologies, promoting efficient operations and increasing the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). As pioneers in the aviation industry, we strive for innovative solutions and efficient measures to achieve a carbon-neutral aviation industry.
Green Fares on SWISS domestic flights
On its domestic flights between Zurich and Geneva, SWISS only offers fares that include the offsetting of CO2 emissions in the ticket price. This is achieved by combining a 20% reduction through the use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with an 80% contribution to high-quality climate protection projects.
Passengers travelling on this route can also opt for a Green Fare with an even higher share of SAF: 50% of the individual flight-related C02 emissions will be reduced by using sustainable aviation fuels and the remaining 50% will be offset through climate protection projects.
The adjusted fares can only be booked for flights between Geneva and Zurich and do not apply to feeder or connecting flights.
