Munich has a great deal to offer people of all ages who are interested in history, art or architecture. One of the main attraction are the famous beer gardens.
Munich, in the region of Bavaria, was founded as a city in the 12th century and has since grown into one of the biggest cities in Germany. The city has a number of world-famous museums, such as the Alte Pinakothek and the Deutsche Museum. There are also a large number of old churches and monasteries to visit. The cathedral, Peterskirche, Theatinerkirche St. Kajetan and St.-Johann-Nepomuk-Kirche are certainly worth seeing.
Munich also has a large number of historical sights. Let’s start with the three remaining city gates from the 14th century: Isartor, Karlstor and Sendlinger Tor. The old town hall, which was built in the Gothic style in the 15th century, and the new town hall, from the early 20th century, are also major tourist attractions. The best time to visit Munich is at the end of September, when you can take part in the Oktoberfest, Germany’s biggest popular festival.
