Ljubljana is the capital and largest city of Slovenia, situated in the centre of the country between the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea.
Destroyed by several earthquakes, Ljubljana was rebuilt in different styles, from the Renaissance one to Neo-Classicist, Secession (Austrian Art Nouveau) and, eventually, Baroque, mainly influenced by Italian Baroque architecture. All these styles shaped the modern face of Ljubljana, made by several facets blended into a single image.
Tourists in Ljubljana cannot miss major attractions, such as the 12th century Castle, the Baroque Francesco Robba’s Fountain of three Carniolan rivers and the Triple Bridge, one of architect Jože Plečnik's best creations.
