Acceptance Rules

Brussels Airlines may refuse to carry checked luggage, which is:

  • likely to be damaged by air carriage
  • unsuitably packed
  • forbidden by any applicable law, regulation or order of any State to be carried
    from, into or over
  • unsuitable for air carriage due to its weight, size or nature

All checked luggage must be properly packed in sufficiently rigid suitcases or similar
containers to ensure safe carriage.

Every piece of luggage must show the passenger's name and address.

Content of the Luggage

Checked luggage may not contain the following:

REMARK: Belgium completely prohibits the import of all fish and meat related food
items. Any breach will result in immediate confiscation of such items by The
Belgian Customs Services, without any refund of the confiscated goods. Fruit and
vegetable related food items are not subject to this ban.

It is recommended that the items below be carried as cabin or carry-on luggage:

  • travel documents
  • medical certificates
  • business documents
  • portable PCs and other electronic equipment
  • musical instruments, pictures, etc.
  • money, jewellery, negotiable papers
  • medicines

Important

Please consider that every single luggage should not exceed the limit of 32kg. Luggage weighing more than 32 kg will not be accepted at check-in and must considered as cargo. Please contact Brussels Airlines Cargo for more information.
Remember to attach a name and address tag to your bags. Protect yourself from the possibility of burglary while away from home by using luggage tags that conceal your address. We recommend that you place a piece of paper with your name and address inside each item of luggage in case luggage tags fall off the conveyor belt between check-in and loading.

If you are travelling Business Class, your luggage will be given priority treatment. A special 'priority' label will be attached to your luggage to ensure that it is unloaded first after your flight land.
